Grateful 365 - My First Day

My 2016 New Years Resolution was to attempt a 365 personal project. In the photography world this is where you plan to photograph something every single day of the year. Some of these projects have you photographing a different theme or subject each day, however, I decided to make the theme of my whole project "Grateful."

The reason for this theme is because in the past year and a half my family has gone through some very trying times. The short version: we had tried to have a baby for many years to no avail, then my husband's health took a turn for the worst and on June 10, 2014 my husband had a heart transplant, followed by two subsequent heart surgeries and many months in and out of the hospitals. Three months after his heart transplant we found out we were pregnant with our first child, our Baby Girl. Now my husband is feeling better and stronger each and every day (and much better than he has felt in years) and our Baby Girl, Gabriella, was born on June 14, 2015. We feel so incredibly grateful each and every day both for my husband's life that was saved by the angel who donated their heart and by the gift of our Baby Girl. Therefore, I decided I will attempt to take a picture each day of the year with a caption to explain what I am grateful for in that image.

Today, January 1, 2016 I am grateful for all the adorable expressions as our Baby Girl tries new foods. She tried prunes for the first time and she loves them, although every once in awhile I think she is getting a bit of a sour taste and gives this adorable expression. I absolutely LOVE it!
